Immigrant Youth Leading Change
Empowering Immigrant Youth:
Leading Change
Immigrant Youth Leading Change is an interactive and engaging session to better understand how all people can become part of the change to end domestic and gender-based violence. During the session, participants will explore the root causes of domestic and gender-based violence to gain an understanding of how and why abuse happens. We will examine and challenge common myths and misconceptions that exist about abuse that reflect some common experiences of newcomer, immigrant, and refugee youth. The session will provide an overview of how to recognize abusive dynamics, how to safely intervene when we suspect abuse is taking place, and how to access community support.
Join Us In Calgary & Edmonton
At the end of the workshop session, we will be recruiting youth to be trained and to facilitate the GBV workshop to others. A selection process will be in place for these youth, and they will receive an honorarium for receiving the training and facilitating as well. Our goal is to inspire and support communities in gender-based violence prevention.
